Simon Hathaway is a member of the Inner Sanctum of the Templar Order, and as of 2016, the head of Abstergo Industries' Historical Research Division.

The same year, he went into the newly-designed Animus for its initial project and explored the memories of his ancestor Gabriel Laxart, who fought besides Jeanne d'Arc, and discovered how deep the conflict between the Templars and Assassins goes.
