Florence
Florence (Firenze in Italian) is a location in Assassin's Creed II.
It is the home city of the main character in Assassin's Creed II: Ezio. The game will begin in this city (for the memory world). The city was first revealed (to journalists) during the GamesCom 2009 in Cologne (Germany).
History
- Main article: wikipedia:History of Florence
Florence has been an important city of the Italian Renaissance. The city was ruled by the Medicis for several years during the 15th Century. Many famous figures of the Renaissance lived in this city like Leonardo Da Vinci or Niccolò Machiavelli.
Landmarks
Many of the beautiful landmarks of the city will be in the game like "The Duomo": the Santa Maria del Fiore cathedral. Players will also be able to see: the Basilica of Santa Croce, the Palazzo Vecchio, the Ponte Vecchio, the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella.
Assassination Targets
- Uberto Alberti; the Gonfaloniere (DNA Sequence 2: Vengeance)
- Francesco de' Pazzi; Patriarch of the Pazzi Family (DNA Sequence 4: Bloody Sunday)
Southern Florence
The southernmost area of Florence is unreachable by the player. Attempting to cross the bridge over the river will cause Desmond to desynchronise. Although you cannot reach the other side, map icons for posters will appear when you are notorious. Several viewpoints with eagles are also visible. The existence of this area may indicate that the development team did not have enough time to include it, or they planned for this section of the map to be released as downloadable content. With the news about the "Bonfire of the Vanities" being released as DLC, the southernmost area may open up for this level.
