:::::Well I haven't read the novel so I can't tell if chapter 2 bleeds into 1852. I'm just going off the chapter summaries. (but even so how long does it take a letter to get from a guy shipwrecked off of South Africa to England). ::::::So, the sinking in the novel occurred in 1851, rather than 1852 in real life. I say this because in Chap. 3, it starts off, "...As far as the British army knew, he (Price) had died a year ago. In June of 1852, a man calling himself (Simeon) Jack Straw..." I'll make the Bts. [[User:Batfan13|Batfan13]] ([[User talk:Batfan13|talk]]) 13:02, 20 September 2022 (UTC)

Anachronistic sinking[edit source]

It looks like according to the timeline of the novel the sinking happens in 1851, not 1852.Lacrossedeamon (talk) 08:43, 20 September 2022 (UTC)

Is the prologue a year earlier than the rest?VilkaIsBack (talk) 09:32, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
I mean, Pierrette's story starting in Ch1 is 1851, but the Prologue is Simeon's story, which could still be 1852. VilkaIsBack (talk) 09:34, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
Except chapter two seems to happen completely within 1851 and has Lovelace showing Pierrette a letter from Price stating he survived the shipwreck. Lacrossedeamon (talk) 09:45, 20 September 2022 (UTC)

Well I haven't read the novel so I can't tell if chapter 2 bleeds into 1852. I'm just going off the chapter summaries. (but even so how long does it take a letter to get from a guy shipwrecked off of South Africa to England). Lacrossedeamon (talk) 10:45, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
So, the sinking in the novel occurred in 1851, rather than 1852 in real life. I say this because in Chap. 3, it starts off, "...As far as the British army knew, he (Price) had died a year ago. In June of 1852, a man calling himself (Simeon) Jack Straw..." I'll make the Bts. Batfan13 (talk) 13:02, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
