Whiskey, or whisky, is an alcoholic beverage that is aged in wooden cases, specifically those made of charred white oak.

History

In the 9th century CE, whiskey was indulged in many areas of Europe, such as England and Scotland.[1] In fact, Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan helped a brewer in Dunvegan Village prepare his "newfound" drink with his listed ingredients while her visit to the Isle of Skye.[2]

In Renaissance times, whiskey was brewed by using rye as one of its core ingredients.[3] By the 18th century, whiskey became a general choice of alcoholic drinks among the people.[4][5]
