Toyotomi Hideyoshi (2 February 1536 or 26 March 1537 – 18 September 1598) was a daimyo during the Sengoku period of Japan, and the second of Japan's three great unifiers. He succeeded his former liege Oda Nobunaga after the latter's assassination at the hands of the Assassin Yamauchi Taka, and managed to unify all of Japan under his rule. However, Hideyoshi himself was later killed by Taka as well, paving the way for Tokugawa Ieyasu's ascension to Shogun of Japan.
