Suleiman I (c. 1494 – 1566) was the tenth Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, from 1520 until his death, and was considered one of its greatest rulers. He is known in the West as Suleiman the Magnificent and in the East, as Suleiman the Lawgiver. Suleiman is the son of Selim I, and he is also the nephew of Şehzade Ahmet.

At the age of 17, the future Sultan was installed as a provincial governor by his grandfather, Sultan Bayezid II. Suleiman became a secret ally of the Assassin Order, and learned much from the Order's Mentor, Ezio Auditore. Additionally, Ezio saw a lot of potential in Suleiman and noted that he would become a great leader one day.
