Stalkers were Byzantine assailants, who tried to kill the Assassin Ezio Auditore in the city of Constantinople during 1511.

Stalkers would dress similarly to civilians and wield short blades concealed in their sleeves before attacking. They also carried a large amount of Akçe, as well as rare bomb ingredients.[1]

Behavior

When approaching their target, stalkers would blend in with the crowd, and conceal their weapon, waiting for the right moment to strike. Should Ezio look towards them, they would only stand still and wait for an opportunity to strike him from behind.[1]

Stalkers rarely engaged in open combat, and would only sneak up behind Ezio, stab him, and flee. However, most of the time Ezio would disarm them, and use their own weapon to kill them. Alternatively, if Ezio recognized the stalker, either by seeing the them sneaking up to him or by using Eagle Sense, then he would walk up to them and kill them.[1]

They would also participate in the attacks on Assassin Dens, sneaking onto rooftops to kill Assassin defenders from behind. However, Ezio would shoot them with his pistol, or send his Assassins for a melee with them.[2]

Trivia

  • An appearance of a stalker is indicated by a white knife on the mini-map, ambient whispering noise and a change in the background music.
  • The second set of the Romanies guild challenge consists of killing (or countering) five stalkers before they stab Ezio.
  • If Ezio turns around just before a stalker gets close enough to stab him, Ezio will forcefully push the stalker backwards and send him flying onto the floor. This does not kill the stalker, however, and they will flee if Ezio does not finish them.
  • Killing a stalker reduces Templar Awareness by 25%.
  • Ottoman guards will chase down stalkers if they witness them assaulting Ezio.
  • If Ezio were to be stabbed by a stalker then he will go into the stun animation from Multiplayer.
