Three Sons of Liberty meeting

The Sons of Liberty were a group of Patriots, based out of Massachusetts, that was an important part of the independence movement in the Thirteen Colonies.

A group that originated in colonial America, they dedicated their efforts to extending American freedom under the British rule, and were known for their rowdy acts of dissidence against the British Crown, most notably the Boston Tea Party.[1]

Such notoriety prevented well known Patriots, including John Hancock and Benjamin Franklin, from joining the group due to the possibility of being apprehended by the British. Notable members of the Sons of Liberty included Paul Revere, Samuel Adams, and William Molineux. Along with the Tea Party, they also had a major part of involvement during the Battles of Lexington and Concord, most notably Paul Revere's Ride.[1]
