Philippi was an ancient Greek city located in Makedonia.
In 42 BCE, the city was the site of a battle fought by the armies of the Hidden Ones Marcus Junius Brutus and Gaius Cassius Longinus against the Marcus Antonius and Octavian after the assassination of Julius Caesar in 44 BCE. While Cassius was killed in the battle, Brutus fled and eventually committed suicide to escape capture.[1]
