The Order of the Sacred Garter is an British order of chivalry founded in 1348.

In 1868, following the death of the Grand Master of the British Templars Crawford Starrick, Queen Victoria invested the Assassins Henry Green, and Jacob and Evie Frye in the Order, as reward for their part in ending Starrick's plot to seize power.

Members of the Order were granted the noble titles of "Sir" or "Dame", depending on their gender.
