Oksana Razin[1] was a Cossack from Odessa and a member of the Templar Order, spurred into military service by the threat of Ottomans encroaching on her homeland. After many years of faithful service as a scout and spy, the Templars approached her with offers of wealth and power in exchange for loyalty. Seeing this as an opportunity to strike at the heart of the Empire, she accepted gladly.

In 2012, her genetic memories were used by the Templar company Abstergo Industries, for the training of their Animus recruits, under the title of the Vanguard.
