Les Deux Royaumes is a French publisher of comics, specifically responsible for transposing video game franchises in the world of comics. It was founded in 2009 by video game publisher Ubisoft and has since served as a publishing house for the company, distributing titles such as The Rabbids and Assassin's Creed.[1]

History

On 30 June 2009, at the Interactive & Digital Entertainment Festival in Cannes, Ubisoft announced the creation of its own comic book publishing house. The name Les Deux Royaumes is French for 'The Two Thrones', a reference to Ubisoft's 2005 action-adventure video game Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones. Ubisoft partnered with other French publishers; Dargaud, Dupuis and Le Lombard for distribution and advice.[2]

The first comic, Assassin's Creed 1: Desmond, released on 13 November 2009. Written by Éric Corbeyran with art by Djilalli Defali.[2]

Les Deux Royaumes shut down in 2020 following the Ubisoft-Glénat partnership which transferred all the works to Glénat who will continue them.[2]
