This article is about the Spartan commander. For other uses, see Kallias (disambiguation).

Kallias (died 403 BCE) was a Spartan army commander who held joint authority with Asterios over Munychia Fort in Piraeus, Greece.

Biography[edit | edit source]

In 403 BCE, Kallias was responsible for overseeing the fort's eastern section while Asterios took care of the west. On the night of the Battle of Munychia, he reprimanded a hoplite for seemingly abandoning his post, not having been informed that the Spartan was relieved of duty an hour earlier. Shortly after, the misthios Kassandra killed both him and Asterios as part of her contract with the Athenian soldier Nikomedes, allowing the Athenian general Thrasybulus' forces to take the fort.[1]
