James Mayor was a British Army lieutenant stationed in Boston, Massachusetts under the command of Major Rawle during the American Revolution. In 1775, Mayor left a note with a hint to the password to his commanding officer's new safe, which led to him unknowingly helping the Colonial Assassin Ratonhnhaké:ton in accessing its contents.[1]
