Fenton (died 870s) was a male sheep that belonged to a Suthsexe farmer in the 9th century.
Biography
A nuisance to his farmer, Fenton's owner was ordered by his ealdorman to kill him but Fenton traveled away from his owner. As a result, it was then surrounded by a pack of hungry wolves. Fortunately, Fenton was saved by the Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir, who killed the wolves and escorted it back to its owner. Sadly, Fenton was then killed and his mutton was later given to Eivor as a reward for her assistance.[1]
