Fafnir was a dwarf in Norse mythology who was magically transformed into the giant dragon.
Mythology
According to the Völsunga saga, Fafnir covetously guarded his mountain of gold and the cursed ring Andvaranaut, until he was stabbed by Sigurd from behind.[1]
Legacy and influence
During her travels, the Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan acquired a spear named for Fafnir after defeating Erik Loyalskull, a proud member of Ragnar Lothbrok's Lost Drengir.[2]
