Damat Ali Pasha was a former servant of Sultan Bayezid II and a member of the Templar Order. Damat served the Sultan until his loyalty to him dissolved after the Sultan's ambitions to conquer the world subsided. From then on, he joined the Templars in the hopes of bringing order and glory to a world ruled by chaos.

In 2012, his genetic memories were used by the Templar company Abstergo Industries, for the training of their Animus recruits, under the title of the Vizier.

Biography

Early life

Born in eastern Anataolia, Damat developed into an eminent and well-respected officer, as well as a loyal servant to Sultan Bayezid II. However, he began to embrace the Templar philosophy after the Sultan's conquering ambition declined.

Confrontation with the Assassins

"Ah! You have spared me much humiliation before the Sublime Porte. Thank you, efendim."
―Damat to Ezio once the vizier's documents were returned to him.[src]

In 1511, Damat was robbed by a Templar guard in Constantinople. The Assassin Mentor, Ezio Auditore, and one of his Apprentices witnessed the crime, and began to chase the Templar. The Apprentice eventually caught up to the guard, and assassinated him, handing the documents he had stolen to Ezio.

Ezio then told his Apprentice to take care of the body, and that he would deliver the documents back to the vizier. The Mentor made his way back to the vizier, and returned the documents. Damat thanked Ezio, and inquired about the Apprentice who was with Ezio. The Mentor ignored the question, and simply told Damat to enjoy his day, before leaving.

Death

"You Assassins are a plague on the hope of humanity, putting down every eddifice of progress we manage to build up."
―Part of Damat's final words.[src]

Later that year, Damat had a group of Byzantines enter the Grand Bazaar and attack one of Ezio's Apprentices. Ezio arrived in time to protect his Apprentice though, and two began their escape. However, on their way out of the bazaar, another group of Byzantines attacked the Assassins. Then, Damat entered with two Byzantines, and angrily demanded that his men bring the Assassins to justice.

Stealthily, Ezio's Apprentice quickly made his way behind Damat, and assassinated him. In his last words, Damat stated that the Assassins were destroying any progress the Templars made, and that he could have delivered his people into the arms of the Templars.

Final words

  • Damat: You Assassins are a plague on the hope of humanity, putting down every eddifice of progress we manage to build up. Given enough time, I could have delivered my people into the arms of the Templars. But no more.
  • Apprentice: Leave this life in peace.
