Cynewulf was a musician who lived in Lunden, Mercia around 870s CE. He was a member of the band called The Gleemen, alongside Ysane and Kitt.

A notorious womanizer, Cynewulf's proclivities resulted in the dissolution of his band, after having slept with Ysane's muse, and in his imprisonment, after having slept with the guard captain's wife. Eivor Varinsdottir released him from Crepelgate Fort on the condition that he apologized to his friends and reunited the band, which he did.[1]
