Baeldaeg was a Mercian nobleman who served as a thegn alongside Orlaf and Eadric under ealdorman Merton of Sciropescire during the late 9th century.
During King Ceolwulf's reign, Baeldaeg worked with the allied Sons of Ragnar to combat the invading Britons led by King Rhodri the Great. Merton died in one of the battles against the Britons,[1] and Baeldaeg was captured and held at the Wenlocan Outpost.[2] While looting the Briton supplies from the outpost, Eivor Varinsdottir came upon and freed Baeldaeg, and he joined her attack on Caustow Castle.[3]
