Still, I am thankful for this cabin, there are too many eyes on this ship. Too many prying hands. I work the men relentlessly, giving them little rest. Little time to think of the treasures we carry. These gifts will grant us great favor with foreign kings but would make any one of these sailors far wealthier than he has any right to be.
As for the one item that even I am not permitted to see, I can only think of what they told me. "Smooth to the touch, clear like water and firm as stone. It carries the blood of an ancient." The words make little sense to me, but I must carry out my duty.
