Djerty was an ancient Egyptian town and temple dedicated to the Egyptian god Monthu in Upper Egypt.

History[edit | edit source]

In 70 BCE, Djerty was the home of the Medjay elder Hemon. That year, a fellow Medjay, Sabu of Siwa, visited Hemon to warn him of an assassin who was hired to eliminate the Medjay bloodline. Sabu later left to search for said assassin. Unfortunately, the killer soon found and captured both Hemon and his son, Sabestet. After being interrogated, Hemon and Sebestet were executed by the assassin, who learned that Sabu and his son, Bayek, were the last of the Medjay.[1]
