The voulge earned by Arno Dorian

The voulge is a type of polearm that features a broad, hacking blade bound to the end of a long shaft.

Description[edit | edit source]

While similar to other polearms with broad single-edged blades, the voulge is distinguished by its rather crude design. Rather than being mounted on top of the staff, the lower two-thirds of the blade is simply bound to its end. Altogether, voulges are not typically high quality weapons, and alongside the guisarme, were the weakest polearm in Paris at the time of the French Revolution.[1]

History[edit | edit source]

During the French Revolution, the Assassin Arno Dorian of the Parisian Brotherhood was awarded a voulge by Police Minister Charles Cochon de Lapparent in return for solving the murder of the prostitute Suzanna.[1]
