The Vault of the Ancients

The Vault of the Ancients was an ancient vault that was found in the Old City, Uldar, Gullnámar, in Svartálfaheimr. During the warlord Surtr's invasion, his son Glöð used the vault as a prison cell for his captive, the dwarven blacksmith Ivaldi.

History

In Eivor Varinsdottir's visions of Odin's time in Svartalfheim, the Æsir lord Havi and his dwarven allies, Einar, Fritjof, and Tyra opened the vault and found Ivaldi alive, contrary to reports of him dying at Muspels' hands. Ivaldi detailed his capture from a fiery beast who dragged him towards the vault and the injuries he sustained from it. When Einar asked for the relic, Ivaldi admitted to dismantling the device so that Glöð could not use it. Together, they then made their escape from the vault.[1]
