*Edward: You believe me, don't you? Can you not see me... standing out there on the deck of a ship that's sliding into port?
Carlone did not reply, instead withdrawing her hand from his grasp, reaching over to grab the alcohol bottle on the table, and silently walk away. Edward, lost in his delusion, took no notice and vacantly stared out the window.

Caroline lay in bed asleep when a tipsy Edward entered the house. The creaking door and the sound of his steps to the bed woke her.
*Edward: Ahoy, dove. How are you feeling?
He sat on the bed beside her as she rose to a sitting position.
*Caroline: No worse. Just a bit of Morning sickness that won't let go.
Edward put a hand to her forehead to get her temperature. Now face-to-face, she smelled the alcohol on his breath.
*Caroline: Have you been at the pub?
Edward stuck out an index finger and explained himself.
*Edward: I only had one pint to save up some coin so I could bring you this...
He showed her a large, steaming tankard. Caroline moved closer to smell its contents.
*Caroline: Is it chocolate?
Edward shifted around so that they both sat upright away from the headboard. He beamed proudly.
*Edward: Aye, from the Americas. I mixed it myself.
He offered her the mug.
*Edward: Go on. Have a taste.
He raised the tankard to Caroline's lips to help her take a sip.
*Edward: You see, as a privateer, I'll find all manner of novelties in the New World.
He gestured with the tankard to emphasize his point, then playfully bumped her arm with his elbow. Caroline chuckled.
*Edward: We'll be the talk of Bristol.
He against the headboard.
*Edward: So, how's it feel to drink like a Duke?
Caroline laughed slightly awkwardly.
*Caroline: Edward, my father is a merchant. I've had chocolate many times.
Disheartened at her unexpected lack of enthusiasm, Edward stared into the tankard.
*Edward: Have you?
Realizing that she had accidentally insulted his gift without considering their class differences, Caroline tried to recover herself. She shifted closer beside him.
*Caroline: Have...have you not?
*Edward: No.
*Caroline: Go on then.
She nodded and smiled, indicating for him to sample more of the drink. Edward gave a short snort of amusement and took a longer drink, expressing his satisfaction with the beverage.
*Edward: It's nice.
He made to drink again but Caroline stopped his hands and brought them back to his lap. Perplexed, he looked at her.
*Caroline: We'll save the remainder for after tea.
Edward considered the idea and smiled in approval. Caroline leaned up against his side.
*Caroline: Oh, thank you, love. This was so very thoughtful of you.
She kissed his arm and returned to sleep, unaware that Edward was still somewhat bothered by his gift not being a unique surprise.

This article is about one of Edward Kenway's genetic memories. You may be looking for Alonzo Batilla's memory of the same name.

The Treasure Fleet was a virtual representation of one of Edward Kenway's genetic memories, relived by a research analyst in 2014 at Abstergo Entertainment through the Animus Omega.

Description

After being captured by the Caribbean Templars and placed on a treasure ship bound for Spain, Edward awoke to find himself in leg irons together with a fellow prisoner, Adéwalé.

Dialogue

Edward had a flashback to his early days of married life with Caroline Scott.

Emmett Scott threw a severely drunken Edward to the floor of the Kenways' single-level house. Edward knocked over a chair cackling and rolled on the planks, unaffected by the impacts. Standing above, Caroline watched him briefly then looked at her father.

  • Emmett: A despicable display! This tosspot is a ruined man, Caroline. Unfit for life on land, much less at sea. If he goes to the West Indies, it's you who'll suffer.

He stormed to the door.

  • Caroline: Father... Father!

Emmet wordlessly opened the door and exited, slamming it shut. Edward struggled to rise. Sadly reminded again of his alcoholism, Caroline went to help him.

  • Caroline: Come, love. Up with you now.

She righted the chair. Edward slowly rose and spoke with a slur, raising his voice in the direction of the door despite Emmett being long past hearing anything from inside.

  • Edward: That old muckworm. He's wrong about me!

Caroline directed him to the chair and spoke resignedly.

Edward clasped her hands before she could walk away, desperately trying to convince her of his dreams.

  • Edward: You believe me, don't you? Can you not see me... standing out there on the deck of a ship that's sliding into port?

Carlone did not reply, instead withdrawing her hand from his grasp, reaching over to grab the alcohol bottle on the table, and silently walk away. Edward, lost in his delusion, took no notice and vacantly stared out the window.

Edward and Adéwalé reached their weapons.

  • Adéwalé: Hurricane coming.
  • Edward: Hurricane? Jaysus.
  • Adéwalé: We're stealing a brig. Hey, take what you need!
  • Edward: Won't be a minute.

Edward found a leather vest among the confiscated possessions and used it to reinforce his robes.

  • Adéwalé: There's many prisoners held on these ships. Set them free, and they'll sail with us, no question.

Edward and Adéwalé made their way topside.

  • Edward: So that's the idea then? Free what men we can, then find a fast ship to flee in?
  • Adéwalé: Aye. There's a brig in this fleet. I'll make my way to it.

Edward saved the first group of prisoners.

Edward freeing the pirates
  • Edward: There's a catch to this favor. You're sailing with me.

  • Edward: The man speaks true! You lot weigh anchor. As for the rest, half on the foremast and half at the main! Let's outrun this hurricane!

Edward began his attempt to escape the hurricane.

  • Edward: Keep watch on those galleons! See they don't give us trouble.
  • Adéwalé: They won't. Far too slow for this weather.
  • Edward: Bark any orders you think wise, mate. We're up against it here!
  • Adéwalé: These men know their place. They'll see us home.

A rogue wave appeared.

  • Adéwalé: Look out man!
  • Edward: I see it!
  • Adéwalé: Waterspout!
    Steer clear of that thing!
    Waterspout, man! Steer wide!
    It's not looking good!
    Steady as she goes, man.
We will be dragged down to our deaths, captain.
Edward introducing himself to Adéwalé

Edward and his crew managed to escape from the treasure fleet and the storm.

  • Crewman 1: Godfrey Lijah, we made it!
  • Crewman 2: Oh what a mess! Jaysus.
  • Edward: By God, we pulled this one straight from the teeth of Neptune... I'm Edward. Much thanks for your aid back there.
  • Adéwalé: Adéwalé.
  • Edward: Ever been to Nassau, Adéwalé?
  • Adéwalé: Not yet.
  • Edward: By God, she took some knocks, didn't she? I think I'll keep her. All hands aft, lads! We're taking this one home!

Outcome

With the combined effort of the prisoners they released, Edward and Adéwalé managed to escape captivity and certain death with a stolen brig, which Edward decided to keep afterward.

Behind the scenes

The memory portrays the real Spanish Plate Fleet which was sunk by a hurricane on 31 July 1715. It is probably the most famous loss of a treasure fleet. Edward manages to escape before the night, when the hurricane struck with its full might.

The fleet stands still and its ships are very close to each other for the player's ease.

Most sailors could not swim in the Age of Sail and they often did not intentionally learn it. [citation needed] However, Edward proves to be an exception throughout the entire game, as do all saved prisoners in this memory who can swim to the brig without any of them drowning.
