Master Sun was a Chinese businessman who served as the head of the Hualien Trading Company under the Qing Empire. He was also the uncle of the Assassin Xiao Han and a close associate of the Shimazu clan, in particular the Templar Shimazu Saito.
Based in Portuguese Macau during the 1720s, Sun was a rival of the trading company led by Madam Lee and allied with fellow businessmen Jan van Aert and Alan Jacob to sabotage Lee's company for their personal benefit. To this end, he frequently enlisted the services of Saito and her ninja followers, though he was also known to sometimes hire pirates to carry out his orders.

Alliance against Madam Lee
In February 1725, under the Templars' influence, Sun collaborated with Alan Jacob, a representative of the Far East Company, and Jan van Aert, the Chief Navigator of the Dutch East India Company, to sabotage the rival trading company led by Madam Lee and benefit their own respective businesses in the process.
