In 872, Sigurd returned home along with Basim and gave a Hidden Blade to Eivor.[1]
Biography
Early Life
Sigurd was born as the son of King Styrbjorn of Fornburg in 842. During a feast around 855, Fornburg was attacked by the army of Kjotve the Cruel. A teenage Sigurd took part in the fighting, rescuing Eivor from one of Kjotve's men, and attempting to get her to safety.[2] After the raid, King Styrbjorn adopted Eivor as his surrogate daughter, and Sigurd became a brother to her. At some point, Sigurd married a Norse woman named Randvi.[4]
Meeting the Hidden Ones
Circa 870, Sigurd went on a voyage that lasted for two years, during which time he traveled through Kievan Rus'.[5] While in Bulgar, he met the Hidden One Ammon, who was searching for a Shroud of Eden. Despite his sword breaking on Ammon's Hidden Blade, leaving him open to receive what should have been a lethal blow, he quickly recovered and defeated Ammon, before severing the man's wrist as he died in order to claim his Hidden Blade for himself.[6]
Sigurd continued his journey through to the Khazar Khaganate before setting down in Constantinople to rest and resupply, or so he claimed publicly. He may have attempted to raid the Hagia Sophia. While in Constantinople, he met and befriended two Hidden Ones from the Abbasid Caliphate, Basim and Hytham, the former of whom took a liking to Sigurd due to his charisma. He later sailed to Rome and Africa, where Basim and Hytham acted as his guides. During his time abroad, Sigurd began to miss his old homeland, and sailed for Norway with Basim and Hytham traveling with him. [citation needed]
Behind the scenes
Sigurd Styrbjornsson is a character appearing in Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, and introduced in the prequel comic Song of Glory. He is voiced by the Icelandic actor Gudmundur Thorvaldsson, as revealed on his Twitter.[7] His Database entry in Valhalla inconsistently refers to him as both "Styrbjornson" and "Styrbjornsson", although the former is used in the entry title.
