Norway is a Scandinavian unitary constitutional monarchy whose territory comprises the western portion of the Scandinavian Peninsula.
Etymology
The name "Norway" comes from the Old English word Norþweg meaning "the way to the north".[1]
History
In 855, Kjotve the Cruel and the Wolf Clan led a raid in the village of Heillboer because of Varin's allegiance to King Styrbjorn Sigvaldisson of Fjornburg. Varin gave his life willingly to the Wolf Clan under the false pretense that they would refrain from destroying the village. The village was razed to the ground and many of its inhabitants were killed by Kjotve's men, including Varin's wife Rosta. Their daughter, Eivor was able to escape death when she was rescued by her friend Sigurd Styrbjornsson.[2]
