Ma Yongcheng (馬永成; 1468 – 1526), also known as The Butcher, was one of the Eight Tigers, a group of powerful Templar eunuchs that controlled the Chinese imperial court during the reign of the Zhengde and Jiajing Emperors of the Ming dynasty.

Biography

Among the Tigers, Ma Yongcheng was renowned for his brutality, which led him to play an instrumental role in the Great Rites Controversy, hunting down and executing countless Assassins across China. After the Chinese Brotherhood was all but wiped out, the Tigers could rule the country unopposed through their puppet, the Jiajing Emperor.[1]

In 1526, the Tiger Gao Feng captured Shao Jun, one of the few surviving Chinese Assassins, and acquired a Precursor box that she had in her possession. As the Assassin refused to disclose how the artifact functioned, Feng threatened to hand her over to Ma Yongcheng, who would torture her in order to make her talk. However, Shao Jun escaped her cell shortly after and killed Feng,[2] while her Mentor, Wang Yangming, tracked down Ma Yongcheng and eliminated him.[3]
