Lough Gara

Lough Gara is a lake in eastern Connacht, Ireland.

History[edit | edit source]

In the late 9th century, jarlskona Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan traveled to Lough Gara, after following a clue at Port Auley about her target, a Child of Danu, "The Wren." Upon her investigation of the lake, she found a note near a ritual stone and it detailed instructions, from "The Oak" to The Wren, to corrupt the people of Rathcroghan and instigate chaos. From this clue, she discovered The Wren's identity to be the poet, Lady Niamh.[1]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

Originally called "Loch Techet," the name change happened when the O'Garas became rulers of the surrounding area.
