The Jötnar (singular Jötunn) were the "frost giants" of Jötunheimr in Norse mythology.
Mythology
Jötnar had a reputation for kidnapping human brides.[1]
Loki was part-Jötunn and fathered three children with the giantess Angrboða, who would later fight the gods during Ragnarök.[1]
Influence
In the 10th century, Thorvald Hjaltason considered that Östen Jorundsson could have been the product of such a union as he sought out reliable men for his war band.[2]
