Huldufolk Shield was a shield utilized by Norse berserkrs in the 9th century.
Unlike most contemporary shields, it featured an azure flag with golden details partly wrapped about the silver shield, and kept in place by two belts which ran crosswise over the shield face. Named after the mysterious huldufólk of Icelandic folklore, the shield's reflective surface was said to play tricks on the eyes by appearing where nothing had been a moment before.[1]
During the Viking expansion into England, the shield was made available to the shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan through an Animus modification by Layla Hassan, an Assassin who relived her memories.[1]
