Glöð was an Isu, being the bastard son of Surtr. He was half Muspel and half Jötun.[1]

Biography

Invasion of Svartalheim

On the vespers of the Great Catastrophe, during the Muspels' invasion of Svartálfaheimr, they searched for relics hidden underground by the Dwarves. Later, the Muspels forces killed Ivaldi, who was trying to contact other dwarves hidden in Dwarven Shelters, and the surviving dwarves either defected to the Muspel side or were forced into slavery.[2]

The dwarf Fritjof found a relic but was blinded by a bright light as he picked it up. The Muspels brought the artifact back to Glöð, who forced Einar, a defector dwarf, to try and refuel the artifact. After several attempts, the artifact did not activate, and the enraged Isu picked up Einar by the neck before noticing the Æsir leader Odin had snuck within his palace. Glöð threw Einar to the side and fled through a portal with the artifact, but not before destroying the ground making Odin and Einar fall down into a Muspel cafeteria.[2]

Behind the scenes

In Norse mythology, Glöð is a legendary queen, wife of Logi, and mother of Eysa and Eimyrja. She is also not the daughter of Surtr, being instead the daugther of Grímr and Alvör. The myth and character seem to only share a name and a Jötun background.[1]

According to Assassin's Creed: Valhalla's game files, the giant beast that devoured Ivaldi is Glod, transformed by unknown means into a ferocious fire breathing dragon that Odin will face off against in battle later within the same DLC.
