Euthymos was an Olympic trainer in Thasos, Greece in the 5th century BCE.

Biography

In the 420s BCE, "The Great Euthymos" held himself in high regards as trainer of Olympic-leveled athletes, including Solon and Neleus. However, he was strong-armed by a rich benefactor and his allies, the Cult of Kosmos. Interested in his star-athletes, the Cult took them away from the school and Euthymos. Once he started asking questions, Euthymos was threatened by the benefactor and the Cult. Powerless, he remained silent and continued his training, despite the Cult's influence.[1]

At one moment, he was met by Spartan misthios Kassandra, who started to investigate the issues plaguing Thasos and helping a young girl Ide find her brother Solon. In their conversation, Euthymos boasted of his expertise and power, which antagonized Kassandra to push him for more answers. However, discussions ended as both Euthymos and Kassandra sparred against each other to prove who's better. After she bested him and his students, Euthymos lost his students' respect and revealed all that transpired with Solon and Neleus and the Cult of Kosmos. Realizing his faults, Euthymos apologized for his action before Kassandra left.[1]

Behind the scenes

Depending on the player's choices, he either joined the fight against the Cult of Kosmos or stayed away.[2]
