Edward Thatch[1] (c. 1680 – 1718), also known as Edward Teach, or by the alias Blackbeard, was an infamous English pirate captain who sailed the West Indies and the American Colonies during the early 18th century, on the ship Queen Anne's Revenge. Thatch was also a contemporary and associate of Edward Kenway.

Trivia

  • Lead Writer Darby McDevitt stated on his Twitter feed that the developers would be using the name Edward Thatch over the more commonly accepted Edward Teach, when referring to Blackbeard in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.[1]
