Ding Shuge was a Chinese artifact appraiser from the state of Zhao who lived during the Qin dynasty.[1]

Before his vocation as an appraiser, he was an aide to Lü Buwei, in which capacity he was an adroit mediator between the Qin and the Xiongnu whenever border conflicts arose.[1] By 215 BCE, he had settled in the city of Yangzhou near the Great Wall of China. Among his regular business contacts was a youxia apprenticed to the spear-master Wei Yu who would bring him artifacts they found throughout northern Shang Commandery for identification.[2]
