Cristina Vespucci

Cristina Vespucci (born sometime in 1459), was a well-known Florentine beauty and a favorite of painters; most notably Botticelli, who used her as a model for several of his paintings. Records kept by her father's guards indicate that Ezio visited her quite frequently, and that he was "unbelievably dexterous," since the guards were never able to catch him trespassing.

In addition to her looks, Cristina also seems to have been somewhat responsible for jump-starting the career of her cousin, Amerigo. At a dinner party attended by Cristina and, among other illustrious guests, Lorenzo de' Medici, she was reputed to have been in conversation with Lorenzo and Manfredo Soderini about her cousin's brilliance as a sailor.

Though Cristina apparently exaggerated Amerigo's importance slightly to impress Lorenzo, he was charmed by her beauty and agreed to hire her cousin. "Try Amerigo out. I bet after several years you'll have your shipping company named after him," she is reported to have joked. Years later, Amerigo Vespucci was the first to map out the New World, resulting in it being named after him.

Relationship with Ezio

Cristina was both a noblewoman and a student, and one of Ezio's many love interests.

Their first meeting involves Ezio trying, but failing, to charm Cristina during one of her shopping trips. Not used to being turned down by a woman, Ezio follows her home. On the way, Vieri de' Pazzi also attempts to flirt with Cristina, but upon his failure, instead tries to sexually assault her. Ezio then jumps from the roof and punches Vieri in the face, causing him to run off and swear revenge.

In 1476, after completing a race with his brother Federico, Ezio climbs up to Cristina's bedroom window and sleeps with her. The morning after, Cristina's father walks in on them in bed, and Ezio flees out the window, requesting him to understand. Despite this, her father sends guards to kill him, though he eventually escapes from them.

Trivia

• Whilst in the game, Cristina and her family bear the name "Vespucci," in the novel, Assassin's Creed: Renaissance, it is replaced with "Calfucci." History shows that she is usually known as "Simonetta Vespucci," which leaves the name "Cristina Calfucci" as a probability of her Italian name.
• Her relationship with Ezio is depicted to be more intimate in the novel, in contrary with what is shown in the game. Furthermore, it is told in the novel that she and Ezio loved each other very deeply, which makes Ezio furious when he finds out that she was killed by Savonarola's men.
• "Vespucci" is the last name of the Italian explorer of the New World, and the person whom America was named after, Amerigo Vespucci.
• The events of Cristina's and Ezio's first meeting appears in Assassin's Creed: Renaissance, but will also be portrayed in a repressed mission in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood.
