Constantine XI Dragases Palaiologos (8 February 1404 - 29 May 1453) was the Despot of Morea, the last Byzantine Emperor, uncle of Andreas and Manuel Palaiologos, and either a member or ally of the Templar Order.

History

According to Yusuf Tazim, Constantine was a Templar, and systematically killed Assassins in Constantinople and what was left of the Byzantine Empire over the course of his 5 year reign.

As the Emperor, he spearheaded the final defense of Constantinople against the Ottoman Empire in 1453, and managed to hold the city for 54 days before Ottoman cannons finally breached the walls in 2 places on May 29th. After holding mass for one last time in his palace with his generals, he waited for the final attack. When it came, he tore of his Imperial regalia and led his men in a desperate last defense of the city. He died in the attack and was likely buried in a mass grave. The Ottoman Sultan, Mehmed II is said to have been successful in taking Constantinople as he was in possession of an Apple of Eden.
