He who increaseth knowledge, increaseth sorrow. This article contains spoilers, meaning it has information and facts concerning recent or upcoming releases from the Assassin's Creed series. If you do not want to know about these events, it is recommended to read on with caution, or not at all. |
Adéwalé (1692 – unknown) was a former slave from Trinidad, and a member of the Assassin Order. During the Golden Age of Piracy, he was also Edward Kenway's quartermaster aboard the Jackdaw.
At some point, Adéwalé helped Edward gain the Jackdaw and its crew, and around the year 1715, Adéwalé pointed out scenes of interest to his captain, who could then intervene or ignore them.
In 1722, after years of serving under Edward as the Jackdaw's quartermaster, he finally decided to set down a new path by joining the Assassin Order, thus leading him and Edward to part ways.
Eight years later, in 1730, Adéwalé found himself shipwrecked on the island of Saint-Domingue without a crew or weaponry. It was here that he found himself confronted once again with the realities of the slave trade.
Trivia
- Adéwalé is a variant of the Yoruba name Adebowale, suggested to mean "crown has come home." [1]
- Ubisoft confirmed that one of the single-player downloadable content additions included within the Season Pass will be focusing on Adéwalé's life, which is named Freedom Cry.[2]
- Adéwalé is the second playable character to not be related to Desmond Miles in any way, with the first being Aveline de Grandpré.
