Adéwalé[1] was a former slave from Trinidad, and a member of the Assassin Order. He was Edward Kenway's quartermaster aboard the Jackdaw.[2][3]
At some point, he helped Edward gain the Jackdaw and its crew. Around the year 1715, during the Golden Age of Piracy, Adéwalé pointed out scenes of interest to the his captain, who could then intervene or ignore them.[4][5]
Fifteen years later, in 1730, Adéwalé found himself shipwrecked on the island of Saint-Domingue wthout either crew or weapon. It was here that he found himself once again confronted with the realities of the slave trade.[6]
Trivia
- Adéwalé is a variant of the Yoruba name Adebowale, suggested to mean "crown has come home." [7]
- Ubisoft confirmed that one of the single-player downloadable content additions included within the Season Pass will be focusing on Adéwalé's life, which is named Freedom Cry.[8]
