The Battle of Camarón was a conflict that took place on April 30, 1863 in Mexico , between the French Empire and the Mexican Republic as part of the Second French intervention in Mexico. History
The Foreign Legion of the French Army , led by Jean Danjou, took up position in the Hacienda to defend against the Mexican army. Although many were killed or imprisoned, only Drummer Casimir Lai, seriously wounded and left for dead after the battle, managed to escape and was rescued by Foreign Legion reinforcements. The latter were actually present at this battle to protect and recover a powerful artifact, a crystal skull. Casimir succeeded in his mission and safeguarded the relic.[2]
