Yakov Mikhailovich Yurovsky (Russian: Яков Михайлович Юровский; 1878 – 1938) was a Russian revolutionary best known for being the Romanov family's chief executioner.[1] Unbeknownst to many, he was secretly a Russian Templar. On 4 July 1918, Yurovsky was appointed the commandant of the Ipatiev House by the decision of the Ural Council. Intent on securing the family's Precursor box for the Templars,[2] he later directed the royal family's execution on 16 – 17 July 1918.[3]
