Thorgils, also known as Thorgils of the Thick Head, was a Norse warrior in Norway during the 9th century.

History[edit | edit source]

When the Viking Rolf stayed in Stavanger with his crew to prepare to leave Norway after jarl Styrbjorn Sigvaldisson of the Raven Clan gave control of the area to King Harald Fairhair,[1] Styrbjorn's daughter, the shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir met with Rolf and his crew as they were having a friendly fistfight to see who should one day lead the crew. Eivor joined the fistfight to test the raiders and subsequently defeated Thorgils. It was then that Rolf revealed Thorgils was his son, whom Eivor used to call "Tiny Thor" as a child.[2]
