Theodore von Kármán, born Szőllőskislaki Kármán Tódor (11 May 1881 – 7 May 1963), was a Hungarian-American aerospace engineer and physicist.[1]
In 1952, von Kármán hired the undercover detective Thomas Sean Morgan to learn about his former Aerojet co-founder Jack Parsons' daily activities. On 17 June 1952, von Kármán waited at his estate to debrief with Morgan, who revealed that Parsons planned to fly to Mexico earlier than was originally planned.[2]
Realizing that Parsons had cracked the English occultist Aleister Crowley's alchemical formulas,[2] which Crowley derived from Nicolas Flamel's Book of Abraham that mentioned a "divine source" to facilitate making the philosopher's stone,[3] a panicked von Kármán made a hurried phone call to Parsons. When he received a busy signal, he had Morgan rush to Parsons' lab in an attempt to warn him about a Templar plot on his life.[2]
