Upon entering their domain, Eivor startled the pack, which howled in unison and then began to fight against the warrior. Throughout the battle, the Eald-Wulf and Niht-Wulf attacked Eivor in unison to replenish their health. The Niht-Wulf also ate the corpses within the area to replenish its own health. When Eivor took down one wolf at a time, the remaining wolf or wolves howled for their lost member. The Corpse Feeders were a legendary pack of three wolves that lived in Oxenefordscire, Mercia. The Hwit-Wulf was a general white wolf and the smallest of the three wolves. The Niht-Wulf was a black wolf and the second biggest of the pack. The Eald-Wulf was a grey wolf and the largest of the three wolves. Together, these three wolves presented a huge anomaly, when compared to usual population of wolves in England.

In the 870s, the Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir travelled around the region of Oxenefordscire. Along her journey, Eivor came across a hunting log, which gave an account of a wild wolf pack that had massacred an entire village and displayed their aftermath for anyone who dared to see. Eivor looked around the village of Perie in Oxenefordscire and soon saw the abandoned village littered with multiple bloody corpses. Among the dead, she found two notes detailing what had happened.

All of us are terrified. What manner of devil or beast stalks our hamlet? Eerie screeches at night that turn one's blood cold as the dead. None dare venture beyond their homes. What will become of us?

What sounds are these? The nights are filled with horrific howls and snarls unlike any ever heard by man! Several pigs have gone missing, and today Aeglan found a cow, ripped to bloody shreds! If it be ghouls or fiends of Hell, may the Lord help us!
Investigating the village, Eivor saw a stone-fenced area and saw the three wolves near the remains of their victims, human and animals alike, from the village.
