Svala (died 873) was a Norse seeress and the mother of Valka who lived in the mountains near Fornburg in Rygjafylke, Norway, in the 9th century. She was also the rebirth of the Isu Freyja, Odin's wife and the Norse goddess of love, beauty, fertility, sex, war, gold and magic.

As the reincarnation of Freyja, Svala struggled with visions of her past life's memories, affecting her psyche and causing her to speak in riddles. Nevertheless, her visions caused her to be regarded as a wise woman by most members of the Raven Clan and she was appointed the clan's official seeress, as it was believed she could speak with the spirits.[1]
In 855, Svala attended a feast organized in her jarl Styrbjorn's honor in Heillboer, which was interrupted by a raid by the rival Wolf Clan. Svala and most other Raven Clan members survived the attack, and in the aftermath Strybjorn decided to adopt Eivor Varinsdottir, the orphaned daughter of Varin and Rosta.[2]
