Shōkoku-ji (相国寺) is a Buddhist temple in northern Kyoto, founded by Ashikaga Yoshimitsu in 1382.[1]
History[edit | edit source]
A great patron of the arts, Yoshimitsu established Shōkoku-ji to serve as a school for painting, and the temple produced many great artists, including Sesshū Tōyō, who is considered the greatest ink painting artist of Japan.[2]
In 1582, the Kakushiba ikki members Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke visited the temple and recovered three pages scattered across its grounds. The pair later climbed one of its destroyed pagodas and surveyed Kyoto.[3]
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
In the memory "The Twisted Tree", the player is given a choice on the fate of Takahashi Goro, who can be killed at the temple or spared and freed from his family's grasp if his father Takahashi Inoshichi was killed first.[4]
