Saint Peter's Church

Saint Peter's Church is a former Anglo-Saxon church in Winchester, England.

History[edit | edit source]

In 877, a fake funeral was held for Bishop Ealhferth on Saint Peter's Church's grounds by his sister Harriet to hide Ealhferth's actual motives. Upon her arrival, Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan investigated the funeral to verify the bishop's death. Determining the truth, Eivor confronted Harriet about the deception, much to Harriet's shock.[1]

Harriet soon set soldiers on Eivor, who defeated them in combat, and was confronted again by the Viking. Harriet divulged that Ealhferth was going to confront King Alfred and have him step down, but Eivor knew better as she revealed that Ealhferth was going to assassinate the king. She then quickly left the sham funeral to save Alfred.[1] Sometime later, Eivor returned to the church and climbed atop its cross to survey the land.[2]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

The real-life St. Peter's Church in Winchester is a Roman Catholic church, rather than a Protestant one.[3]
