Philippi was an ancient Greek city located in Makedonia.

In 42 BCE, the city was the site of a battle fought between the armies of the Hidden Ones Marcus Junius Brutus and Gaius Cassius Longinus, who were responsible for the assassination of Julius Caesar, and the forces of Mark Antony and Octavian. While Cassius was killed in the battle, Brutus fled and committed suicide to escape capture.[1]
