Philip III of Spain (14 April 1578 – 31 March 1621) was King of Spain and Portugal from 1598 to his death.
In 1609, he ordered the expulsion of the Moriscos, descendants of Spain's mudéjar population who had been forcibly converted from Islam to Christianity in the early 16th century. An estimated 300,000 people, roughly 4% of Spain's population, were evicted from the country.[1]
