Oija was a Lunden blacksmith who aligned himself with Frideswid, a nun and a member of the Order of the Ancients.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Not much is known about Oija other than he was a Norse blacksmith that came to work for the Order member Frideswid, also known as "The Leech". At some point, he employed a young Norse girl named Regna, daughter of Gyda, to help him with his errands. Unknown to the girl, Oija knew what the designs and tools he made were being used for, as he followed Frideswid's logic.[1]

In 873, Oija was visited by Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan; however, he did not know who she was or that she was investigating Regna's disappearance. Being interrogated by Eivor, Oija divulged that his last worker, Regna, had been sent to the "Good Sister", Frideswid, after becoming ill. However, the blacksmith kept secret the fact that he had willingly given up the girl to Frideswid, turning her into the latest victim of The Leech's experiments. After telling Eivor everything he knew, Oija was left alone.[1]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

Oija is a character in Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, where he is voiced by Norwegian actor Sindre Bergfall. While interrogating him, Eivor may use her charisma to make Oija tell her who The Leech was, masquerade as an Order member to obtain the same information, or fight and kill Oija before recovering a note from his body.
